The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims after engaging suspected abductors in a fierce gun battle at Shanga Hills.
The victims, Muhammad Nasamu Namata (25), Gide Namata (20), and Hamidu Alhaji Namani (35), were abducted in the early hours of July 27, 2025, when armed kidnappers invaded Sangara village in Shanga Local Government Area.
According to a statement on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the operation followed swift action by the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga, who mobilised a combined team of security personnel, including officers from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters.
The statement read, “The team trailed the kidnappers to Shanga Hill, where a gunfight ensued. Overwhelmed by the firepower of the security forces, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds.
“The hostages were rescued unharmed on Thursday, July 31, 2025, around 3:30 p.m. and are currently receiving medical care before reuniting with their families.”
He said the commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the bravery and professionalism of the rescue team, urging all security agencies to maintain strong collaboration. He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Kebbi State.
