INEC’s Recognition of David Mark Led ADC Irresponsible – Dumebi Kachikwu

The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has expressed strong disapproval over the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of David Mark as the party’s national chairman.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Kachikwu described the electoral body’s decision as irresponsible. He also stated that he had no confidence in the current leadership of INEC.

His comments came shortly after INEC formally recognized the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) led by David Mark on Wednesday.

“Nigerians as a whole know that the David Mark led faction of the ADC is on borrowed time,” Kachikwu said.

“What we saw from the INEC chairman yesterday was another irresponsible act from the outgoing chairman of INEC.

“If they — the coalition — had leadership we could look up to and say these men did well for Nigeria, Nigerians today would not be complaining.

“Nigerians today would not be saying this country is a failed nation. But the reason they are saying it is because these men have all failed.”

Kachikwu further criticized what he described as the political class’s dependence on public office for survival.

“These are people who cannot survive outside of political office. They have nothing else they do for a living. The only thing they care about is getting back into power so they can resume enriching themselves and taking care of their friends and family,” he added.
