Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has undergone a second MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan as he has not fully recovered from the ankle injury he sustained during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Rwanda.

Osimhen’s injury has become a significant concern not only for Galatasaray’s Süper Lig matches but also for their European competitions.

His presence in the upcoming Champions League clash against Liverpool could greatly impact Galatasaray’s attacking strength.

According to DHA’s Serhan Türk, “Osimhen hasn’t fully recovered. He participated in part of Sunday’s training session but is still experiencing some pain and will undergo another MRI scan.”

Osimhen, eager to play in the Champions League match against Liverpool on September 30 in Istanbul, stated, “My pain has mostly gone. I don’t want to play before I’m fully recovered, but I feel fine now. If Coach Okan gives me the chance, I would like to play.”

Club doctors and the technical team are assessing the player’s progress during individual training sessions to determine his match fitness. His recent training performances have raised hopes for a positive outcome regarding his availability for the match.
