Babachir Lawal Alleges Peter Obi Won 2023

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, won the 2023 presidential election, contrary to the official results declaring Bola Tinubu the winner.

Lawal, a vocal critic of the current administration, made this claim during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight, monitored by TRIBUNE ONLINE on Monday.

According to Lawal, the facts available to him indicate that Tinubu did not win the election.

“The result available to me at that time showed he (Tinubu) didn’t win the (2023) election,” he said.

Lawal justified his claim by stating that his team monitored the election, collected data, and tracked results from the field, alleging that some of the figures were altered.

“We monitored the election, collected data, and monitored the results from the fields. Some of the results were altered,” he added.

Lawal also expressed his strained relationship with President Tinubu, describing him as “arrogant”.

“The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him. I didn’t offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself, and he thinks that he is now the so-called president…I believe he didn’t win the election,” Lawal said.

When asked about Tinubu’s offense against him, Lawal replied, “He is arrogant. The guy has an arrogance that belies definitions”.

According to INEC, Tinubu won with 8,794,726 votes (36.61%), Atiku Abubakar came second with 6,984,520 votes (29.07%), and Peter Obi came third with 6,101,533 votes (25.40%).
