Cross River: Ex Gov Ebri chairs inaugural Elders Advisory Council

A former governor of Cross River State Mr. Clement Ebri has been inaugurated as the Chairman of the inaugural Elders Advisory Council of the Cross River State Consultative Forum, CRSCF.

The council which is an arm of the CRSCF has 87 other members spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.

These include former governor Ben Ayade, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba, Minister of State for Industries John Owan Enoh, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, among others.

Speaking while inaugurating the council, Gov Bassey Otu who was represented by his deputy Peter Odey said Cross River cannot fail with the quality of people in the council.

“Any government with these quality of advisers cannot fail. We want to listen to the best brains the state has” , he said.

The governor also praised the chairman of the Council Clement Ebri for his leadership qualities saying he’s a leader who is not afraid to speak the truth.

While congratulating Ebri on his 73rd birthday which coincided with the inauguration, Gov Otu said the Council will be the Chief Adviser to the government of the state while pledging to implement every advice from the council.

In his acceptance speech, chairman of the Council Clement Ebri said the council is a collection of the best the state has in terms of quality.

“This is a collection of the best Cross River offers in terms of quality. With the people gathered here, Cross River is on course and we are committed to deliver”, he said.

Mr. Ebri also inaugurated a six member local government coordinating committee for each of the 18 local government areas of the state and tasked them to brace for the task ahead.

Chairman of the CRSCF Eyo Nsa Ekpo said the essence is to chart the way forward for the progress, development of the state and also the proper engagement of citizens.

He added that it will also act as a filter and feedback mechanism to ensure that government policies and programmes follow a bottom to top approach.
