Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially begun her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for cooking the largest pot of jollof rice, aiming to use 250 bags of rice for the feat.
The renowned cook, who gained global recognition in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon, launched her ambitious challenge at Eko Hotel in Lagos, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of fans and supporters.
Before the cooking began, Hilda was seen praying with her mother. The pair asked for divine strength, protection, and endurance to carry them through the intense process.
The heartfelt moment drew emotional cheers from spectators, many of whom praised her mother as a major source of inspiration and support in Hilda’s journey.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself. In just a few hours, this same pot will carry thousands of servings of Nigerian jollof history in the making,” she wrote on social media.
The event, which was originally planned to take place at Muri Okunola Park, was relocated to Eko Hotel due to the overwhelming public interest. More than 20,000 people reportedly registered to attend.
