Famous Hollywood actor, director, and producer Robert Redford has died at the age of 89.

According to reports from the United States, Redford passed away peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday morning at his home in Utah.

His longtime publicist, Cindi Berger, confirmed the news in a statement. She said he died at home in Sundance, surrounded by his family.

“He will be missed greatly,” Berger said, adding that the family is asking for privacy during this time.


A Remarkable Life and Career

Robert Redford was born Charles Robert Redford Jr. on August 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, California.

He became a global star after starring alongside Paul Newman in the 1969 classic film, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

After many years as a successful actor, Redford began directing films. He won an Oscar for Best Director and later helped start the famous Sundance Film Festival, which supports independent filmmakers from around the world.

Redford wasn’t just known for movies. He was also a strong environmental activist, working for many years to protect nature and wildlife, especially in Utah, where he lived.
