The driver of the bus, Segun Aderoju, told our correspondent that a pothole on the road led to the accident.
He said, “It was the pothole that affected the bus. As the bus entered the pothole, a spring from the bus removed and made the bus to sommersault but I couldn’t manuever well because there were trailers around me.”
Also corroborating the driver, one of the passengers, a youth corps member, Babatunde Shotonwa, explained that the accident occurred as a result of a pothole on the road.
He said, “On my way to Abeokuta, the bus had an accident.
“The thing is that there is a small pothole and the driver didn’t see it on time while speeding.
“Before he could realise what was happening and the next thing that happened was the bus somersaulted.
“The driver could not maneuver the bus because there were trailers beside him.”
Our correspondent observed the presence of policemen trying to restore sanity on the road.
