Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has joined many others around the world in celebrating Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who turned 48 on Monday.

In a message posted on his social media pages, Obi described Chimamanda as a “literary Amazon” and a source of inspiration to many Nigerians and Africans.

He praised her strong influence in literature, feminism, and culture.

“Chimamanda has grown into a true literary giant,” Obi wrote. “Her books not only enrich global literature but also uplift humanity. She uses her talent to tell our stories with pride and to raise a new generation of storytellers.”

Obi also spoke about her efforts to support young writers through her books and writing workshops, which encourage them to dream big, think deeply, and use words to speak the truth and create change.

Chimamanda is known around the world for her bestselling books like Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah. She has received many honors, including the MacArthur Fellowship.

Peter Obi, who is also the former governor of Anambra State, described her as a powerful storyteller and a voice for the voiceless. He also praised her resilience and deep connection to her roots.

“What touched me most,” he said, “was when she visited her old school and teachers, even from her primary school days. That simple act showed how much she values her past and the people who helped shape her.”

He ended his message by praying for more wisdom, joy, and strength for Chimamanda in the years to come.

It’s worth noting that Chimamanda publicly supported Peter Obi during Nigeria’s 2023 presidential elections.
