President Tinubu touches down in Brazil for official visit

President Bola Tinubu arrived in Brasília on Monday in his scheduled state visit to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Brazil.

Tinubu was received by senior Brazilian government officials, including Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte and Ambassador Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, Brazil’s ambassador to Nigeria, at the Brasília Air Base.

Speaking in a statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, spoke on Tinubu’s visit, “The official welcome ceremony, with full military honours, will take place on Monday at the Planalto Palace.

“The leaders will witness the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and address a joint press conference afterwards.”

Following his arrival, Tinubu was also greeted by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu.

An official welcoming ceremony with full military honours will take place on Monday at the Planalto Palace.

After the ceremony, Tinubu will meet privately with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
