Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanran passes away

Veteran Nollywood actor Olusegun Akinremi, widely known as Chief Kanran, has passed away at the age of 70.

His death was confirmed by movie producer, Seun Oloketuyi, via a post on Instagram that the popular actor passed away earlier in the day.

Oloketuyi wrote, “Popular actor Segun Remi popularly known as Chief Kanran died Friday morning.”

Chief Kanran was a highly recognized figure within the Yoruba film industry, known for his distinctive acting style, charisma, keen sense of humor, and compelling performances that rendered him a favorite among audiences both on stage and in motion pictures for numerous years.

Recall that a few years ago, a popular cleric fondly called Agbala Gabriel visited the veteran actor at his Lagos home, and there were plans to help him produce a new movie he was planning to shoot.
