Malam Muhammed Garba, the chief of staff to former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has revealed why his principal, wasn’t present to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in Kano

He attributed his absence to a prior commitment abroad.

According to him, Ganduje had travelled to London for a personal engagement arranged in advance, just five days after his resignation as APC Chairman.

“He left Nigeria to England five days after his resignation as chairman of the APC, and if you can remember, one of the reasons he gave was his health. However, it wasn’t anything serious; he needed to rest after rendering his service towards the party’s successes and the nation’s development,” Garba explained.

Despite being informed of Tinubu’s visit, the aide claimed Ganduje couldn’t reschedule his flight and itinerary in time to return to Nigeria.

Ganduje’s absence from key events, including the Kaduna summit, was due to his being out of the country. However, Garba assured that Ganduje was adequately briefed on the summit’s proceedings.

Regarding Ganduje’s potential return to active politics, Garba said, “Of course, he is. I was with him in London a few days ago, and I can assure you that he has had enough rest and is ready to return to active politics. All things being equal, we are expecting him back in the country in a couple of days.”

This development comes amid speculations about Ganduje’s resignation and potential rifts within the party.
